We should be tired of picking up the tab

Dear Editor,
Last week we had a short discussion about benefits, taxes and the operation of  our government.
Government is basically a service organization. It protects us from the really bad guys and provides many and varied services in exchange for the taxes we pay.
Therein lies the problem. Some of us are loathe to part with any of our allegedly hard earned money for taxes! And so, the result is that three very rich families have managed to sequester over $300 Billion.
There are many more families that enjoy a relatively tax-free income. All of that may represent a bridge that didn’t get repaired, a school lunch program that got cancelled, an NIH cancer research program that had to be put on hold until some funding showed up.
There is no end to the good causes to which that “avoided tax” money could have been allocated. But instead, it went to a secret account in the Caymen Islands!
Our country has a fiscal problem! It is not the needy but rather the greedy! The way it works is that the super greedy have so many politicians on their payroll that bills to exempt them from paying taxes are easily passed into law! It’s a symbiotic relationship, the rich get their taxes reduced and the politicians get their re-election campaigns funded.
Guess what the rest of us get?
The bill.
