JACKSON (WNE) — Vice President J.D. Vance is expected to headline a fundraising reception in Jackson at the end of July.

The New York Times reported that he is scheduled to attend an event as the finance chair of the Republican Party on July 29, according to copies of invitations. As chair, he is responsible for securing donations and preparing the party for the 2026 midterms. Vance is the first sitting vice president to take on the role, according to Politico.

Teton County Republican Party Chair Kat Rueckert said on Tuesday that the GOP was not currently involved with the event. She was not aware Vance was visiting for fundraising efforts.

President Trump visited Jackson around the same time last year for a fundraising event at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Teton County philanthropist Lynn Friess, U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort investors Karen and Jay Kemmerer were among the eight hosts of the luncheon, where the fundraising goals were high.

Several of the dinners in Silicon Valley, Atlanta, Nashville and other spots Vance has attended advertised ticket prices of $100,000 per couple to attend or $250,000 per couple to host, according to the Times.

Last year, former Teton County GOP Chair Mary Martin said there are entities and families in the community that are capable of making those kinds of donations and have historically. Teton County is ranked as the highest in the nation for its wealth.
