GILLETTE (WNE) — A woman and her girlfriend were arrested Friday afternoon for five counts of drug-endangered child, felony possession of meth and other charges.

Officers found several grams of meth, jeweler’s bags and scales in the couple’s home on Newton Road, along with a stolen handgun in a Mazda parked nearby, said Police Deputy Chief Brent Wasson.

Wasson said officers responded after the Gillette Police Department received an anonymous report of drug use with kids in the house.

Police went to the home in the 200 block of Newton Road, where the couple, 30-year-old Lisette Diaz and 36-year-old Laquettia Lunsford, were living with Lunsford’s brother, along with five children ages three to 15.

Police were given consent to search the house. Wasson said both women took back their consent after officers found more drug-related paraphernalia, but it wasn’t clear whether they’d found jeweler’s bags or scales. No syringes or pipes were found in the home.

Police applied for a search warrant, and after continuing their search, they found 28 grams of meth, along with more paraphernalia. Police found a handgun in the Mazda that matched a handgun that was reported stolen on July 11, Wasson said.

Both women were arrested on five counts of drug-endangered child and felony possession of meth.

Lunsford also was charged with possession with the intent to distribute, and Diaz also was charged with defrauding a drug and alcohol test.

The five kids were taken into police custody and turned over to the Department of Family Services, Wasson said.
