Two in custody after fatal shooting in Cheyenne

CHEYENNE (WNE) — Laramie County Sheriff ’s deputies have detained two people in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred at approximately 12:14 a.m. Friday at 505 Williams St., in unincorporated Laramie County.
Deputies were dispatched to the call and arrived to find one individual who was shot.
“We are saddened to report that they have succumbed to their injuries,” LCSO Public Information Officer Brandon Warner said in a news release sent out Friday afternoon. “Two individuals have been detained in connection with this incident and pose no threat to the public at this time.”
The incident took place in a mobile home on lot 145 of the West Winds Mobile Home Park, which was surrounded with crime scene tape and closed off for further investigation.
The property saw activity from several responding entities, including the sheriff ’s department and the Laramie County Coroner’s Office; however, crime tape and responding agencies were gone by midafternoon.
Warner had no updates on the status of the case later in the day, and Laramie County Sheriff Brian Kozak declined to comment as this is an open investigation.
Cheyenne typically has a low rate of homicides, with only three occurring in 2024, according to the Cheyenne Police Department. Two of those were ruled as “justified” homicides by the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
The name of the person killed in Friday’s shooting will not be released until the Laramie County Coroner’s Office has been able to notify the next of kin.
