Traffic stop leads to large drug seizure

GREEN RIVER (WNE) — A recent traffic stop near Rock Springs led to the confiscation of almost 80 pounds of drugs.

On Saturday, July 5, a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper in the Rock Springs area stopped a vehicle on I-80 for a traffic violation.

"The trooper obtained probable cause to search the vehicle," the WHP reported. "The search revealed 74 lbs of methamphetamine, 2.5 lbs of cocaine, 1.5 lbs of fentanyl, and 1.5 lbs of heroin."

The three occupants of the vehicle were arrested on felony drug charges, according to the WHP, which is working with several agencies in reference to this case.
