LAST TIME OUT

At the Kit Mayer Classic last weekend in Golden, Colo., Wyoming sat atop nine podiums and finished Top-3 in another eight events while 29 personal bests were set across action, Friday and Saturday. Nine new program Top-10 marks were also set.

Junior Elayna Chafee set the No. 7 mark in the triple jump with her first-place finish of 11.98 meters. She also was a part of the 4x100-meter relay along with freshman Taliah Morris, freshman Megan Witkiewicz and senior Gabby Drube. The squad finished first with a time of 45.60, good for No. 6 in program history. For the men’s 4x100-meter relay, the team of freshmen Christian Edwards, Bridger Norton and Logan Brown and junior Carter McComb also took first with a program No. 10 time of 40.84.

In the men’s long jump, junior Remar Pitter set the program No. 4 outdoor mark with a jump of 7.68 meters. Freshman Charles LaFore set the freshman hammer throw record and moved to No. 6 in program history with his throw of 66.68 meters, the best true freshman mark in the country this year.

Morris also entered the Top-10 in the 100 meters with her time of 11.80, tying her with No. 6 while McComb moved up to No. 5 in the program record book with his finish of 10.48. Senior Jaheim Ferguson now holds the No. 2 time in the 400-meter hurdles with his time of 50.64, a personal best.
