CHEYENNE (WNE) — Three individuals from out of state have been sentenced by the U.S. District Court in Wyoming for their involvement in an April 2024 attempt to pass a counterfeit U.S. Treasury check at a Cheyenne bank.

Ashley M. Patton-Spencer, 37, of University Park, Illinois, recruited co-defendant Pamela Kubesh, 56, of Lake Tomahawk, Wisconsin, to assist her in passing the counterfeit U.S. Treasury check.

On April 8, Kubesh used a false name and identification to open a bank account in Cheyenne and deposit a counterfeit U.S. Treasury check, according to court documents.

Patton-Spencer arranged for Kubesh’s travel to meet up with the third defendant, Dwayne Rogers Jr., 22, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Rodgers also provided a false name and identification in bank account opening documents and drove his co-conspirators to and from the bank.

For her coordinated efforts with others to commit the crime, Patton-Spencer was sentenced to 20 months in prison, with two years of supervised release. She was charged with aiding and abetting the passing and uttering of a counterfeit U.S. obligation.

Patton-Spencer pleaded guilty on Dec. 11, 2024, and was sentenced on March 3 in Cheyenne by U.S. District Judge Alan B. Johnson.

For her involvement, Kubesh was sentenced to 12 months in prison with three years of supervised release for passing and uttering a counterfeit U.S. obligation.

Kubesh pleaded guilty on Dec. 12, 2024, and was sentenced on March 4 in Cheyenne by Judge Johnson.

Rogers was sentenced to 15 months in prison with three years of supervised release for aiding and abetting the passing and uttering of a counterfeit U.S. obligation.

Rodgers pleaded guilty to the charges on Dec. 5, 2024, and was sentenced on Feb. 25 in Cheyenne by Judge Johnson.
