Swim Concludes Day 1 of the Colorado Mesa Invite

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (11/20/24) – The first six events of the Colorado Mesa Invite commenced on Thursday evening, consisting of the women’s and men’s 200-yard medley relay, women’s and men’s 1000-yard freestyle and the women’s and men’s 800-yard freestyle relay. Wyoming competed in both the women’s and men’s relays.

Wyoming took second place in the women’s 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:41.36, comprising of Veronika Ozimek, Rachael Horne, Tessa Bendokas and Lauren Swartz. In the men’s 200-yard relay, the Cowboys also took second with a time of 1:27.23, entailing of Kellen Chadderdon, Andrew Ravegum, Gavin Smith and Quinn Teller.

The Cowgirls also came in second in the 800-yard freestyle relay, with Ozimek, Kali Franckowiak, Avery True and Joyce collectively swimming a 7:20.96. Wyoming recorded a first-place finish in the men’s 800-yard freestyle relay with Caleb Ozenne, Adam Pannell, Luke O’Connor and Smith logging a collective time of 6:31.56.

At the end of day one, the Cowboys are in third place with 126 points while the Cowgirls are also in third with 120 points.

The Wyoming swim team is back in the pool at Colorado Mesa tomorrow starting at 10 a.m. with preliminaries. The Wyoming dive team will kick off their SMU Invitational campaign tomorrow at 1 p.m.
