LARAMIE, Wyo. (12/13/24) – The University of Wyoming swim team is headed to compete in their final competition of the year before winter break at the UNLV Invite on December 16-18.
It has been almost a month since Wyoming competed in the Colorado Mesa Invite, so it’s no surprise that the Pokes are eager to continue their impressive form in the pool and close out the 2024 calendar year on a high note.
Head coach Dave Denniston is looking forward to his team racing against more mid-major division one programs, including schools like UCLA, UNLV and Cal Baptist.
“It’s a new meet for us, so I don’t have big expectations going in, but I know the competition is going to be really solid,” Denniston said. “I expect to see a few of our athletes shine in that moment and be able to rest a little while swimming at sea-level, which is something we haven’t done yet this season.”
Starting Monday, each day of the Invite will have preliminary events beginning at 10:30 a.m. and finals starting at 6 p.m.
Following the UNLV Invite, the Pokes are back in the pool after the new year on January 11 when they host Denver for Senior Day at Laramie High School.
