Stewart pleads guilty to six felonies

THERMOPOLIS (WNE) — Thermopolis resident Cody Stewart, 36, on Wednesday pleaded guilty in district court to taking money from the Thermopolis Future Farmers of America Alumni Association.

Stewart was charged with 12 felony counts in October, 2024, and originally entered a not guilty plea to all charges. According to court documents, Stewart took money from the group without permission during her tenure as its treasurer.

Pursuant to a plea agreement, in exchange for her guilty plea to six of the counts, the remaining six will be dismissed.

Stewart will have to make restitution to the FFA Alumni Association, in an amount to be determined at sentencing.

The prosecution has agreed to seek a jail sentence of no greater than thirty months, while the defendant is free to argue for a more lenient sentence.

The court directed that a presentence investigation be prepared, and a sentencing hearing will be scheduled thereafter.Stewart’s bond was continued, with the same bond conditions as had been set at the time of her release from custody, on October 22, 2024.
