State releases Wyoming Economic Indicators report

CHEYENNE (WNE) — The latest issue of the Wyoming Economic Indicators report contains the Wyoming Economic Health Index, which is designed to provide a current assessment of the state’s economy.
Highlights from this month’s issue include the following:
- The Wyoming Economic Health Index reported an index value of 107.6 in June 2024. This value is higher than the June 2023 value of 107.3. The WEHI has increased year-over-year in each of the last six months, but the growth rate is slowing down.
- The unemployment rate for Wyoming in June 2024 was 2.9%, lower than the national unemployment rate of 4.1%. This is the 15th consecutive month the unemployment rate has been below 3%.
- Total non-farm payroll jobs in Wyoming numbered 293,200 in June 2024, higher than June 2023 by 2,300 jobs.
- Wyoming’s sales and use tax collections from the mining sector in June 2024 decreased 16.3% compared to June last year.
- Wyoming’s collection of the 4% sales and use tax from lodging in June 2024 increased 30.5% compared to June last year.
