"Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment." - 1 Corinthians 1:10

In our journey as believers, filled with the Holy Spirit, we often face decisions that require collective wisdom and agreement. It could be as practical as choosing the color of church paint or as significant as making decisions that impact our community. The apostle Paul’s call for unity among the Corinthians resonates deeply today. Shouldn't the Spirit, who indwells each believer, guide us all to the same conclusion?

Unity in the Spirit isn't just about avoiding conflicts or compromises; it's about aligning our hearts and minds with God's will. Ephesians 4:3 reminds us to "be diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." This unity isn't uniformity, where everyone thinks and acts the same way, but a harmonious collaboration where diverse perspectives find common ground in Christ. When we seek His guidance together, we reflect the character of our Lord Jesus Christ, who prayed for His followers to be one (John 17:21).

The process of decision-making within a community of believers should be marked by humility, prayer, and a commitment to listen to one another with love (Philippians 2:3-4). Proverbs 15:22 tells us, "Without consultation, plans are frustrated, but with many counselors, they succeed." Each member, filled with the Spirit, brings unique insights and gifts that contribute to discerning God's direction (1 Corinthians 12:4-7).

As we navigate decisions, big and small, let's prioritize unity in the Spirit over personal preferences or agendas. Romans 15:5-6 encourages us, "Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, so that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Let's embrace this unity as a testament to the transforming power of the Gospel and a witness to the world of God's love and wisdom among His people. A desire for unity, requires that every person involved be filled with the Spirit. It is that easy.

Heavenly Father,

I come before You, thankful for the unity Your Spirit brings among believers. Help me, Lord, to seek Your guidance in all decisions, big and small. Grant me wisdom to listen humbly, to respect other's perspectives, and to discern Your will in unity. May my decisions reflect Your love and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
