Speed listed as possible contributing factor in I-90 crash that killed 19-year-old Gillette woman

GILLETTE (WNE) — The Wyoming Highway Patrol is investigating a crash on Interstate 90 that resulted in the death of 19-year-old Destiny Kirsch early Friday morning.
Kirsch, a Gillette resident, was a passenger in a 2005 Cadillac CTS that was being driven by a 16-year-old boy, also from Gillette. The car crashed near mile marker 126 on I-90 shortly before 3 a.m. Friday.
According to the Highway Patrol, speed is listed as a possible contributing factor. Road conditions were dry and the weather was clear.
The car was traveling at a high speed while negotiating a left-hand curve. The driver lost control of the vehicle and went off the roadway to the left, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol. The car struck the cable barrier, rolled, and came to rest in the westbound lanes.
The 16-year-old was taken to the Campbell County Health emergency room to be treated for his injuries, said Police Deputy Chief Brent Wasson.
Wasson said the woman was ejected from the Cadillac. It’s unclear at this time how severely the 16-year-old was injured.
