Soccer Uses Big Second Half to Draw with Colorado State, 3-3

LARAMIE, Wyoming (10/30/25) – The University of Wyoming soccer team utilized a big second half to finish the season off on a high note Thursday at the Madrid Sports Complex. The Cowgirls netted three goals in the final 45 minutes to draw with Colorado State, 3-3.

The result completes a season where the Pokes went 7-6-6 overall and 2-4-4 (10 points) in Mountain West Conference play. The Rams end the regular season at 10-3-5 overall and 4-2-4 (16 points) in league action.

The first 45 minutes Thursday went very poorly for Wyoming. The Rams jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind goals from Kaja Dionne and Michaela McGowan.

It would have been quite easy for the Cowgirls to lay down and simply go through the motions in the final 45 minutes. But they refused to quit, and their character showed with a firework-filled second half.

“We started the game with a new formation, a new shape, with which to attack and got a rough start under our belt,” head coach Josh Purdum said. “The halftime was very calm, and similar to GCU, we knew there were goals against this team. We knew we just had to keep testing the goalkeeper, and we got rewarded for it.”

Jazi Barela – who was playing in her program-record 84th game – got the scoring started. She found the back of the net off passes from Erin Dahl and Eliza-Grace Smith in the 57th minute, which made it a 2-1 game.

Alyssa Glover also carved her way into the record books with the equalizer. She scored in the 59th minute, unassisted, which was her 11th of the season, and that matches the program-high for goals in a single season.

Jennah Wanner put the Pokes ahead in the 64th minute. She scored her first-career goal off feeds from Kylee (Bliss) Quilici Quain and Lily Brongo, which staked Wyoming to its first advantage of the contest.

Mia Casey leveled things once more with a penalty kick in the 86th minute.  

Cowgirls’ keeper, Haley Bartel, didn’t make a save in the contest. Her counterpart, Gray Wilson, made a trio of saves.

Wyoming’s season comes to an end. Colorado State will compete in next week’s Mountain West Tournament in Boise, Idaho.
