Soccer Falls at UNLV, 3-0

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (10/20/24) – The University of Wyoming soccer team fell to UNLV on Sunday. The Rebels claimed a 3-0 decision at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
The loss drops the Cowgirls to 4-6-6 overall and 2-3-3 (9 points) in Mountain West Conference play. UNLV improves to 7-7-2 on the year and 5-2-1 (16 points) in league action.
The Rebels jumped out to the lead early Sunday. Cassie Villanueva found the back of the net in the ninth minute, staking her club to a 1-0 lead.
Sarah Martinez added to the advantage during the 16th minute. She cleaned up a loose ball in front of the net.
UNLV capped the scoring in the second half. Mallie Ramriez logged a score off a pass from Tori Martinez in the 60th minute.
The Rebels led in shots, 15-11. Maddi Chance paced the Cowgirls with four shots and half of those were nearly goals as they caromed off the crossbar. Raegan Richardson registered three shots, while Alisa Bunn also recorded multiple shots with two.
Wyoming goalkeeper, Haley Bartel, made three saves. Her counterpart, Hanne Bruer, turned away four shots for the shutout.
The Cowgirls return home for a their last two at the Madrid Sports Complex in 2024. They host San Diego State on Thursday at 3 p.m. before battling New Mexico on Oct. 27 at 1 p.m.
