Soccer Falls to South Dakota State in its Home Opener

LARAMIE, Wyo. (8/25/24) – The University of Wyoming soccer team dropped its home opener Sunday. The Cowgirls fell to South Dakota State, 3-0, at the Madrid Sports Complex.

With the loss, Wyoming is 0-2-1 on the season. The Jackrabbits improve to 2-2-0 on the year.

South Dakota State got on the board early. Hailee Christensen scored during the sixth minute with assists being credited to Mis Bosch and Katherine Jones.

Katelyn Beulke made it a 2-0 game in the 30th minute. She found the back of the net unassisted.

Bosch put the finishing touches on the scoreboard. She scored in the 80th minute off a feed from Adrianna Agbayani.

The Jackrabbits created more consistent offensive pressure Sunday, leading in the shots department, 16-10. Wyoming goalkeeper, Haley Bartel, finished with five saves, while South Dakota State’s tandem goalie of Emma Knack and Stephanie Leckwold turned away seven shots combined.

Taylor Brook and Raegan Richardson logged two shots apiece to pace the Cowgirls. Beulke, Christensen, Bosch, Agbayani, Kaycee Manding, and Lauren Eckerle each fired two shots apiece to lead South Dakota State.

Wyoming has a long layoff until its next match. The Cowgirls are at Northern Colorado on Sept. 5.
