LARAMIE, Wyoming (10/13/24) – The University of Wyoming soccer team started the way it wanted to Sunday against Boise State at the Madrid Sports Complex. However, the Cowgirls didn’t close the way they would have liked.

The end result was a 2-1 loss to the Broncos. The defeat drops Wyoming to 4-5-5 overall and 2-2-2 (8 points) in Mountain West Conference play, while the victory improves Boise State to 11-2-2 on the year and 4-0-2 (14 points) in league action.

Taylor Brook got the Cowgirls on the board first. She netted her second goal of the season, heading in a flip throw from Alyssa Bedard in the 20th minute.

Boise State responded with a pair of scores in the second half. Carly Cross recorded the first one in the 49th minute with the assist going to Avery McBride.

Kayla Soderstrom logged the go-ahead goal in the 63rd minute. She too scored after McBride put a shot on goal that wasn’t corralled completely.

Haley Bartel stayed busy, especially in the second half. She made six saves, as Boise State fired 16 shots Sunday, 10 of which were in the last 45 minutes.

Genevieve Crenshaw registered five saves for the Broncos. Wyoming put up a total of 14 shots, seven in the first half and another seven in the second half.

Alyssa Bedard led the Cowgirls with three shots. Kiley Ballek and Alisa Bunn also boasted multiple shots with two apiece.

Wyoming takes to the road next. The Cowgirls travel to Nevada on Thursday for a 7 p.m. match before going to UNLV on Sunday at 1 p.m.
