SHIRLEY MAE HANSEN BORGIALLI

Shirley Mae Hansen Borgialli, 91, passed away peacefully April 10, 2026, surrounded by her family at Monument Health hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota, from complications of a stroke and respiratory issues.
Shirley was born on Jan. 2, 1935, to Carl H. and Ella Toth Hansen, the sixth of eight children. She spent her earlier years in Newcastle, Wyoming, and, weather permitting, at the family ranch north of Newcastle. She graduated from Newcastle High School in 1953. She was involved in numerous school organizations and clubs. She worked various jobs during school and out of school.
In 1953 after graduation, she met the love of her life, Roy Borgialli. They married on Jan. 3, 1954, at Newcastle Methodist Church. They had two children, Ronald and Dennis. They were married for 67 years until Roy’s death July 22, 2021.
In 1960, her parents bought Baird Implement in Newcastle and changed the name to Hansen Equipment. She worked there along with her brother Jack until 2003, when her breathing got too bad to continue.
She was an avid nature lover, always planting new and different plants to see them grow. Shirley and Roy were members of the Tangle Foot Square Dance Club for more than 25 years. She enjoyed going along on annual family elk hunting trips to various parts of Wyoming. She also was an active quilter making beautiful quilts and winning numerous awards for her talents. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and valued all the friends she made there.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; brothers, Bill, Jimmy, and Fred Hansen; sisters, Rose Allen, Lorraine Davis, and Helen Nicolls; and daughter-in-law, Luann Borgialli.
She is survived by her brother, Jack (Betty) Hansen; sister-in-law, Barb Hansen; sons, Ron (Sheryl) of Laramie, Wyoming, Dennis (Gwen) of Newcastle; granddaughters, Deena Wolf (Alexander) of Evansville, Wyoming, Jodene Foy (Christpher) of Severance, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Lorelai Wolf, Piper Wolf, Ella Foy, and Paxton Foy; step-grandchildren, Shelly Straley, Shaun Sirrs, Shari Senser, Chad Burke, Nick Burke, Brian Burke, and Justin Burke; as well as numerous step-great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Weston County Senior Citizen Center on April 18 at 10 a.m. Memorials and condolences may be sent in care of Meridian Mortuary, 111 South Railroad Ave., Newcastle, WY 82701.
