SHERIDAN (WNE) – The upcoming 2025 spring semester will be historic for Northern Wyoming Community College District as the college will launch its first-ever four year degree: a bachelor of applied science in management and leadership.

“It’s very exciting, and it’s historic. The four-year degree that we’re offering literally turns terminal degrees — those are degrees that didn’t have any hope of transferring anywhere — in all of those career and technical education programs, it turns them into transfer degrees,” Sheridan College President Walter Tribley said. “You get a degree in welding, before you’d think that you couldn’t go on, but now you can. This degree will meet you where you are and help you take that next step.”

During the Oct. 15 NWCCD Board of Trustees meeting, Tribley announced the Higher Learning Commission had approved the accreditation of Sheridan College’s first four-year degree last week.

The four-year degree will offer an emphasis in either business or industrial technology and will offer courses such as conflict management, contracts and quality management, small business finance and funding, nonprofit management and many more, according to a Sheridan College pamphlet.

Students will also be connected with a local business or organization to help with a specific project or challenge and to have the opportunity to engage into a particular industry. Each student will receive over 200 hours of hands-on, real-world experience throughout the course of the bachelor’s degree program, as well as opportunities for networking, internships and future career opportunities, according to an Oct. 15 Sheridan College press release.
