SHERIDAN (WNE) — Former Sheridan High School Virtual Learning assistant principal Jacob Meyer was found guilty of second degree sexual assault.

His trial concluded Tuesday in 4th Judicial District Court. Meyer’s bond was revoked, and he was taken into custody.

According to the victim’s testimony, she and Meyer began conversing via text following her practice of leaving drawings with suggestive images on his desk.

A friend of the victim’s discussed the daily interactions she and the victim had with Meyer, which included hanging out in his office. She discussed how the relationship between Meyer and the victim progressed throughout the school year and into the spring of 2024.

According to testimony, three girls  — the victim and her two best friends — were housesitting the weekend of April 19. The friend said Meyer had been texting the victim most of the day. The three friends began drinking that evening and eventually took the victim to Meyer’s house later that night. They dropped her off and left her for approximately two hours and went back to pick her up once she texted them to do so.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on May 4, Sheridan High School Principal Scott Cleland notified Sheridan Police Department of an alleged sexual relationship between Meyer and a student.

According to court documents, the 33-year-old allegedly “had interaction with a victim who is a student or participant in the activities of the school and…did unlawfully inflict sexual intrusion on that victim.”

Meyer pleaded not guilty on June 25 to second degree sexual assault, which is a felony punishable by no less than two and up to 20 years in prison, a maximum fine of $20,000 or both.

A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for 60 days from Tuesday.
