The Wyoming Department of Health is hoping to hear from clients, providers and the public about their experiences with department programs. The public is invited to a listening session on July 18 in Newcastle, according to Kim Deti, the department’s public information officer. 
In a release dated June 27, the Health Department will hold the session from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Weston County Events Center, 24 Fairgrounds Road. People are asked to “share thoughts and ideas on health-related issues and needs” during the structured listening session. Sessions will also be held in Gillette and Sundance on July 16 and 17. 
“These sessions are opportunities for us to hear from our departments’ clients, local healthcare providers and community members about health-related issues,” said Michael Ceballos, WDH director. “We want to know what’s working and what could be improved. A better understanding of local perspectives helps us make the most of our available resources.” 
Deti noted that Ceballos is looking for thoughts on what is working well within the department and suggestions for improvement from the local populace. 
The press release says that people “especially interested” in attending include clients of various department programs, health care providers, community coalition members and anyone interested in Wyoming health care issues. 
Residents who are not able to attend can comment online at healthcommunityvisits.wyo.gov. The department expects to continue scheduling similar sessions throughout the state in coming months.
