Cheyenne, WY – The Equality State Policy Center (ESPC) is thrilled to announce the 2025 SHAPE Wyoming Citizen Lobbyist Training, a transformative opportunity for Wyomingites to learn how to effectively engage with policymakers, amplify their voices, and shape the future of their communities. The event will be held in Cheyenne on January 19-20, 2025.

“As a Wyoming grown advocate, I know that SHAPE WY is a cornerstone for individual Wyomingites to learn how to participate in the Equality State’s lawmaking process and influence outcomes that directly impact the people of Wyoming,” said Jenny DeSarro, Executive Director of ESPC.

With the 2025 Wyoming Legislative Session underway, it is the perfect time to harness your passion and turn it into action. Whether you’re just starting your advocacy journey or looking to expand your impact, SHAPE Wyoming equips participants with the skills and strategies to drive meaningful change.

“SHAPE Wyoming gave me the confidence to step into my first advocacy role,” shared Marissa Carpio, ESPC’s Policy Director. “This year’s program builds on that foundation by offering fresh perspectives and resources for advocates at every stage.”

Over two impactful days, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how laws are made, learn to craft compelling stories that inspire action, and build confidence in engaging with policymakers. The program features engaging sessions led by experienced advocates and experts, including Marcia Shanor of the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association, who will guide attendees through the legislative process, and Micah Richardson from the Wyoming Women’s Foundation, who will demystify navigating the legislative website. Grant Gallaher, Mountain Movement Strategies, will give an overview of what you need to know about key legislators. Dan Zwonitzer, a Former Representative of twenty years, will puzzle out the nuances of the Legislative Rules Process in Wyoming.

An award-winning journalist, Maggie Mullen will lead a session on storytelling and engaging with journalists, teaching participants how to connect personal experiences to policy issues. Tate Mullen from the Wyoming Education Association, will provide crucial real-time feedback to attendees as they practice crafting their testimonies. The event will also feature a panel discussion with Senator Tara Nethercott, Senator Mike Gierau, Representative JT Larson, and Representative Trey Sherwood, who will offer practical advice on communicating with your elected officials, as well as, share their insights on process and decorum relevant to the Wyoming Legislature.

Then, attendees will put their new skills into practice at the Wyoming State Capitol, observing legislative proceedings and connecting with lawmakers.

“I’m excited for the return of SHAPE Wyoming training,” said Rosa Reyna-Pugh, Civic Engagement Director at ESPC. “This program is about empowering Wyomingites to make a difference. Something that is getting more vital each year!”

SHAPE Wyoming is more than just training—it’s an invitation to be part of a movement that drives meaningful change. Participants will leave with practical skills, renewed confidence, and a strong network of peers and mentors committed to shaping a brighter future for the people of Wyoming.
