Several fires burn north of Sheridan, evacuations close to home

SHERIDAN (WNE) — Several fires are burning north of Sheridan in Montana, and evacuations now include areas near Tongue River.

The Bureau of Land Management issued an evacuation order for southern Rosebud County in Montana — just north of Big Horn County, Montana, which is just north of Sheridan County.

Tongue River and all of Otter Creek to Lee Creek to Birney and everything south of Birney to the Big Horn County line has been asked to evacuate.

An evacuation shelter has been set up at St. Labre School in Ashland, Montana.

Smoke infiltrated Sheridan County Saturday night due to several fires in the area, including:

Anderson wildfire

Discovered June 12 at 10:24 a.m.

Area acres burned: 3,300

Percent contained: 0%

Deadman wildfire

Discovered July 12 at 3 a.m.

Area acres burned: 3,000

Percent contained: 4%

Thompson wildfire

Discovered July 12 at 11:14 a.m.

Area acres burned: 60

Percent contained: Not available

Four Mile wildfire

Discovered June 13 at 12:06 p.m.

Area acres burned: 1,000

Percent contained: Not available

South Fork Rosebud wildfire

Discovered July 12 at 2:25 p.m.

Area acres burned: 2

Percent contained: Not available

McGhee wildfire

Discovered July 12 at 1:21 p.m.

Area acres burned: 300

Percent contained: 10%
