Seven Cowboys Earn a Ranking in Latest Batch of Polls
LARAMIE, Wyoming (11/26/24) – The University of Wyoming wrestling team saw a new Cowboy make their way into the rankings this week. Stockton O’Brien (133) appears for the first time in his Wyoming career, and he’s joined by six others who have held a rank for most of the season thus far.
As a team, the Pokes check in as high as No. 26 in team tournament and No. 31 in dual team rank.
Jore Volk (125) suffered a pair of losses at Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. That dropped him to 2-2 on the season, and he now sits at No. 7 in InterMat’s poll.
Joey Novak (197) went 1-1 over the weekend to move to 3-1 on the year. He fell ever so slightly to No. 13 in Flo Wrestling and Open Mat’s rankings.
Gabe Willochell (149) also went 1-1 in the Sooner State, pulling one upset and nearly another. He’s 2-2 in 2024-25 and No. 18 in Open Mat’s poll.
Jared Hill (157) had a noteworthy homecoming and remained perfect on the season at 4-0. He moved up to No. 21 in InterMat’s rankings.
Sam Mitchell (HWT) competed unattached at the Younes Hospitality Open and finished second with a 4-1 mark. He’s up to No. 21 in InterMat’s poll.
Cole Brooks (141) went 0-2 in his return to his home state. He’s 2-2 on the year and fell a tad to No. 28 in InterMat’s rankings.
O’Brien rounds out the ranked Pokes. He lost at Oklahoma State and didn’t compete at Oklahoma. O’Brien is 2-1 in 2024-25 and No. 33 in Flo Wrestling’s poll.
Wyoming is back in action next week. The Cowboys are set to participate in the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite from Dec. 6-7 in the Las Vegas Convention Center.
