School District Updates Community
From Weston County School District #1:
Hello to all students, staff, parents and guardians. As you all know, ongoing health concerns have us all facing unique situations and challenges. We are continuing to monitor the situation and work with state and local authorities to evaluate what is best for our students and our community. While there is a great deal left to be determined, here are some current updates as it relates to WCSD #1.
Our focus will continue to be providing food and other essentials to those in need.
We are currently making two plans for learning moving forward: (1) If school were to resume as normal on April 6th, the facility will be clean and ready to go (that is the easy one); (2) If we are faced with further school closures, what long-term educational plan could be implemented? That is what our teaching staff is working on currently.
That plan may look different for various grade levels and buildings, as well as for course offerings. We are currently working on how to deliver instruction to every student, even in the event there is no internet access or other available resources.
At this point, we cannot be sure what will happen after April 3, but building principals and staff will be reaching out very soon. In the meantime, we would encourage you to develop the following practices:
• Make sure you are practicing the health guidelines.
• Check the district’s website or district Facebook page for updates.
• Take the time to establish a routine at home that allows your child(ren) time to access learning materials and spend time engaged in the learning process.
• Ask for assistance if a need arises. These are different times to say the least. WCSD #1 is here to help, and we will continue to monitor and adjust as needed for all students.
Please contact building principals with any questions or concerns you may have have, and reach out to the building principals for items of need:

Other questions that we will continue to monitor involve spring activities, prom and graduation. We know how important each of these events are to our students, families and community, but regret that we are unable to provide answers to those questions at this time.
We urge all of you to continue to be safe.
Respectfully,
Brad LaCroix
