The Upton Bobcats closed out their fall season at the 2A State Golf Championships in Douglas on Sept. 20, finishing sixth in the boys team standings with a two-day score of 808. Upton stood in the middle of the pack throughout the weekend, shooting 412 on the opening day and improving to 396 in the final round.

Junior Chase Juliano turned in the team’s best showing, shooting rounds of 91 and 86 for a 177 that tied him for 16th in the individual standings. Juliano had been a steady scorer for the Bobcats throughout the season, highlighted by a third-place finish at the Wright Fall Invite earlier in September, and he capped his fall by putting together back-to-back solid rounds on the state’s biggest stage.

Junior Nicolas Schiller, who had led Upton in nearly every event this year, finished with an 89 and a 92 for a 181 that placed him 14th overall. Like Juliano, Schiller’s steady play was central to Upton’s progress during the season, including top-10 finishes at earlier invites.

The rest of the lineup gained valuable state-level experience. Junior Tyson Huckins improved from a 116 on the opening day to a 102 on Saturday, finishing at 218. Freshman Ridley Butler posted matching rounds of 116 for a 232, while junior Tristan McNutt shot 128–127 to finish at 255.

Sundance won the boys state title with a 708, followed by Thermopolis at 735 and Wright at 765. Upton slotted into sixth, just behind Niobrara County and Big Horn, and ahead of Kemmerer, Moorcroft and Tongue River.

For the Bobcats, the state meet capped a season of steady improvement. Schiller and Juliano gave Upton a reliable one-two punch at the top of the lineup, while younger players such as Butler and Huckins gained valuable varsity experience. The Bobcats also showed their potential earlier in September with a fifth-place team finish at the Wright Fall Invite. With nearly their entire roster eligible to return next season, Upton has a strong foundation to build on heading into 2026.
