Saddle and Sirloin members report a successful summer

As the summer comes to an end, many Saddle and Sirloin FFA members said goodbye to their livestock projects. The FFA Chapter had a very successful County and State Fair, and six members went on to compete in Douglas at the Wyoming State Fair. 
The Weston County Fair took place on the last week of August. Rachel Sweet and Brook Martell competed in the Horse Show on Sunday and Monday. Brook was the Champion FFA Showman. Rachel Sweet had the Reserve All-Around FFA Horse on her horse Squiggy. Moving on to the swine show, the FFA Chapter had two members show in the pig show Wednesday afternoon. Alyssa Morris was the Champion Swine Showman. Callie Hiser was the Reserve All-Around Swine Showman. 
There were four FFA exhibitors that showed in the sheep show early Thursday morning. Taylor Crinklaw, Peyton Crinklaw, Rachel Sweet, and Cole Wehri all entered the sheep show. Taylor was the Champion FFA Showman and Peyton was reserve. 
Finally, we had lots of kids participate in the beef show on Friday morning. JJ Lipp, Hailey Wehri, Rachel Sweet, Pate Tavegie, Tell Tavegie and Taylor Crinklaw all competed in the beef show. Hailey Wehri was the Champion FFA Showman and JJ Lipp was reserve. Several of the chapter members competed in the Round Robin Friday after the beef show. Hailey Wehri was the Champion Round Robin winner and JJ Lipp was reserve. 
For the second year the FFA Chapter rewarded one Sweepstakes Showman where all Showmanship points are combined from the whole week. Taylor Crinklaw was the 2021 Champion Sweepstakes winner of this year’s Weston County Fair. 
There was lots of success all week at the Wyoming State Fair. Alyssa Morris, Jayde Harrington, and Parker Stevens entered metal and wood projects and ribboned respectively in each of their classes. JJ Lipp entered two heifers, and Hailey Wehri entered two heifers and two heifer calves. Hailey Wehri had the Champion Shorthorn Heifer along with the Reserve Champion Any Other Breed English Heifer during the Junior Beef Show. JJ Lipp had the Reserve Champion Shorthorn Heifer along with the Reserve Champion Any Other Breeds Continental Jr. Heifer. Rachel Sweet entered four Columbia sheep which she showed in the Junior Breeding Sheep Show and won Champion Any Other Wool Breed Ewe at the open breeding show. We finished off the week with Weston County winning the Champion Pen of Five Heifers. Hailey Wehri had two, Cooper Miller also had two and JJ Lipp had one. 
Aside from state fair, the FFA Chapter was represented at the national level by LaKacee Lipp and Brook Martell in their Supervised Agriculture Experience Proficiency Divisions. Their proficiencies represent their work with their SAEs during their time as FFA members. LaKacee received Silver for Agri-Science Research on Plant Systems. Brook received Bronze with her Equine Entrepreneurship. 
The Saddle and Sirloin FFA Chapter had a very successful year. With lots of hard work, the members and their projects had a fun-filled summer.
