Nov. 10, 1926–Dec. 24, 2024

Ruth Elizabeth Moore peacefully passed away on Dec. 24, 2024, with her family by her side.

Ruth was born Nov. 10, 1926, to Frank and Pearl (Schultz) Fawcett on the family ranch homesteaded on Beaver Creek near Newcastle, Wyoming. She was the middle daughter of three sisters, and one brother.

Ruth grew up on the ranch and attended the proverbial one-room school house (Sweet County School on Beaver Creek) until high school. She attended Newcastle High School and graduated in 1944. After high school, she entered nursing school in 1945 at Denver General Hospital in Denver, Colorado, as nurses were in demand during World War II. Ruth started work at Denver General Hospital in 1948.

She married Paul E. Moore on July 10, 1948, in Denver, Colorado. In 1960, the family moved to Hayden/Winkelman, Arizona, where she started working for American Smelting and Refining Company in 1962 and was head nurse at the American Smelting and Refining Company clinic in Hayden, Arizona. She was a registered nurse for over 40 years.

After retirement, Paul and Ruth moved to Yuma, Arizona, to be closer to their grandsons and family.
She was a kind, generous and loving person, and dedicated many hours at the Assistance League of Yuma and other charities. She loved being with family and especially enjoyed summer months at the family ranch in Wyoming. It meant a great deal to her to live on the ranch and be near her two sisters, and many other family members and life-long friends.
She is survived by her son, Steve (Irene) of Yuma; grandsons, Derek (Cindi) Moore of Yuma, Kyle Moore of Phoenix, Arizona; and step-great-grandsons, Andrew and Ethan Moody of Yuma.

She is also survived by nephews, Mike (Janet) Capps of Casper, Wyoming, Richard (Vera) Huber of Newcastle; nieces, Jeanette Huber of Clarkston, Washington, Patty (Chuck) Bartlett of Newcastle, and Patti (David) Trudell of Mission, Texas; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Moore; son, Stuart Moore; sisters, Mary Capps and Marjorie Huber; brother, Bill Fawcett; nephews, Mike (Sharyn) Crayne, Ted (Charisse) Crayne, Bill Capps and Dave (Jane) Capps; and grandnephew, Heath Bartlett.
Funeral services will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1550 S. 14th Avenue, Yuma, on Jan. 25 at 10 a.m., with reception to follow in St. Paul's parish hall. Inurnment will be at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle. Cremation and arrangements were entrusted to Johnson Mortuary.
