A rockin’ reunion
The 2025 Newcastle All-School Reunion is in the books, and it was definitely...well...one for the books!
From epic participation numbers in the 5k Run/Walk, Alumni Golf Tournament and the parade to great new events like old-timer basketball and flag football and a couple of door-busting gatherings at the Flying V and street dance, last week’s celebration will certainly go down as one of the all-time best for those who were able to attend.
It has been a long time since Newcastle has felt so alive, and while it would be easy to attribute that to the influx of energy from all of us visiting old-timers, a lot of the credit goes to the folks who still call Newcastle or northeast Wyoming home. The community looked spectacular, and we congratulate and thank all of you who participated in the NLJ’s Knock the Dust Off for the Dogies city beautification campaign. #DustItOffDogies!
There were countless volunteers who chipped in to make the event possible, and it is impossible to think about listing all of them without leaving somebody (or several somebodies) out. We do, however, want to tip our hats to Jennifer Smith and Tracy Olson, who were the directors of the past couple of shindigs and spent countless hours pulling this thing off.
(Special thanks to Carrie Peterson for taking the picture of Rene’ Whitley and I toting the banner for the Class of ‘86 in Saturday’s parade. I will also take this opportunity to point out that ‘86 does, in fact, “rock” and was the best-represented class at the reunion — both in numbers and spirit! If you want to disagree with me on that, click on the picture to send me an email and make your best case!)
We have lots of great pictures from the weekend in this week’s NLJ, so be sure to check out every page of this week’s paper. You will be able to find even more memories on our website over the next couple of days, so check out newslj.com and go over to our YouTube Channel later this week for some great video footage. Be sure to scan next week’s NEWC Now newsletter for LINKS to all of it!
If you missed last week’s newspaper, we shared some great stories about alumni and all of those stories are also available on newslj.com.
