ROBERT E. TANNER

1930–Oct. 30, 2024

One-time Newcastle resident Robert E. Tanner died Oct. 30, 2024, in his long-time home of Casper, Wyoming. 

Bob was born in 1930, and grew up in Newcastle with younger brothers Francis and Rolland, the sons of Earl Tanner. His mother died in 1939.

Bob graduated from Newcastle High School in 1948. He served three years in the United States Marine Corps.

In 1956, he married Jane Hunter of Ekalaka, Montana. He received a bachelor’s degree from Black Hills Teachers College (Now Black Hills State University) and a master’s degree from the University of Wyoming. After 12 years in education, he became a real estate broker, which he practiced for 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; sons, Stuart (Daney), Eric (Cori), and Matt (Jenny); eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his brother, Francis, of Riverton.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Paulann; his parents; and his brother, Rolland.

Services were held Nov. 8 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Casper. A full obituary can be found at Newcomer’s Funeral Home.
