The right to choose
Dear Editor,
In the April 29th edition of the News Letter Journal, there was an article entitled, “Residents Reluctant to Vaccinate.”  I would like to make several comments on this topic, but would first like to emphasize that this letter is not about getting, or not getting, this injection.  Any competent adult has a right to do as they choose in this regard.  
 That being said, I would like to provide the definition of a vaccine.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) website, a vaccine is “a product that stimulates a person’s immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease, protecting that person from that disease.” (https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vac-gen/imz-basics.htm)  
 I want to point out that all three COVID injections currently available are not technically “vaccines”: they do not create immunity to, or prevent infection by COVID, nor do they prevent transmission of COVID.  Thus, no herd immunity to this virus from this injection is actually possible at this time.  Despite referring to them as vaccines ad nauseam, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the CDC, the National Institute of Health (NIH), and the World Health Organization (WHO) are among many organizations and individuals who acknowledge that these injections are an experimental mRNA gene therapy that functions by reducing the severity of COVID symptoms when someone becomes infected.  This type of mRNA has never been used in humans before and there is no data on the long term effects of this substance interacting with human bodies, not to mention the short term effects that are still being documented as the clinical trials for these experimental injections don’t even end until 2023.  Weston County residents, as well as people everywhere, are right to be reluctant about this injection in light of the information coming out about it.  Information that is now becoming more available, despite the heavy efforts to suppress any legitimate information that defies the “safe and effective” narrative put forth by various governmental and private organizations through the mainstream media.  Again, people have a right to get this injection if they so choose.  People also have a right not to get this injection.  In order to make an informed choice about our health, we need to have accurate information about it.  I believe that our public health agencies, starting with the federal government, have an obligation to be honest about what this injection is and what it is not.  Media agencies from large to small also have an obligation to research and publish accurate information from all viewpoints as well.  
 This is by no means a thorough commentary on COVID or the injection, nor did I provide a thorough list of sources.  There’s obviously much more information out there on the wide web from people who are much more well-versed and educated than I am in these matters.
