COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (February 4, 2025) – For the third time in as many meets, senior thrower Daniel Reynolds has won the Mountain West Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Now a four-time Mountain West Field Athlete of the Week, Reynolds earned his latest award after yet another record-breaking meet. At the Colorado Invitational, last weekend, he threw not only the No. 11 All-Time weight throw in NCAA history but also the second-best two turn weight throw ever. His mark of 79’ 9 1/4” (24.31 meters) is now the No. 2 mark in the NCAA this season and the new Wyoming and Mountain West record.
Only one Cowboy, thrower Mason Finley, has more Athlete of the Week honors in a season and a career. Over his career in Wyoming, he won the award eight times, four in the 2014 outdoor season and three in the 2013-24 indoor track and field season. Finley also holds the Wyoming indoor shot put record holder.
Reynolds' previous awards came on Dec. 10 and Jan. 30 of this season and April 16 of the 2024 outdoor season.
Reynolds and crew will be back in action next weekend at the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., and the Husky Classic in Seattle Wash., on Feb. 14-15.
