REGINA MARY (DOLAN) MYRUM

Regina Mary Myrum passed away peacefully at the age of 85 at St.
Mark’s hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Nov. 1, 2019.
Regina was born on May 8, 1934, at the family home in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Lawrence Valentine Dolan and Veronica Mary Hamilton Dolan. Regina was the youngest of their eight children. Regina is survived by her sisters Veronica Marie Novak of Newcastle, Wyo., and Rosemary Ralph of Dover, Del. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Catherine Dolan, Irene Dolan, Elizabeth Dolan Delfino, Lawrence Dolan Jr. and Robert Dolan.
Regina graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in Brooklyn in 1951. She traveled to Newcastle in 1952 to join her sisters Veronica Marie and Rosemary. During this time, she met her future husband, Orlin Gordon Myrum. They were married at Corpus Christi Catholic Church on Dec. 30, 1953.
The couple gave birth to seven children and were divorced in 1964. Regina Myrum was preceded in death by her infant son and Orlin Myrum in 1990.
Regina is survived by her children, Stephen (Pam) Myrum of Cheyenne, Wyo.,Gene Myrum of Cheyenne, Kevin Myrum of Black Hawk, S.D., Patricia Myrum of Salt Lake City, Thomas (Candice) Myrum of Tumwater, Wash., and Teresa Garcia of Port Orchard, Wash. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Regina lived in Newcastle continuously from 1968 to 1992, when she moved to Salt Lake City. She worked numerous jobs in Newcastle including several years at the Old Mill Inn. She taught GED courses at the high school and served on the Newcastle City Council. She was a faithful parishioner of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Upon moving to Salt Lake City, she worked at the University of Utah’s Moran Eye Clinic until her retirement in 1999. She attended mass at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church in the Sugarhouse area of Salt Lake City. She devoted herself to others with whom she shared an apartment building and participated in many activities there.
Interment of ashes will be scheduled at a date and location to be determined by the family.
Her family said, “The family would like to thank all of those who knew, befriended and looked after our mother.”
