Ranchers Feed and Supply is the new kid in town and to celebrate, it’s hosting a grand opening at its 2750 W. Main location on Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. The Newcastle store is the third for the Edgemont, South Dakota-based family enterprise.
“We have been wanting to expand for a while and because of Newcastle’s location. In comparison to our other stores, it felt like a good fit,” said Jessica VanEaton, general manager of the three locations.
The company’s other locations are in Lusk and Edgemont, she said, with the stores offering the “basics,” which include feed, salt, minerals, lick tubs, veterinary supplies, jeans and apparel, muck boots and some tack supplies.
Siblings Kerry and Kelvin Barker, along with Kerry’s wife, Stephanie Stevens, own the Ranchers Feed and Supply stores. Krystal Crinklaw manages the Newcastle location and both Becky Carr and Ed Quinones are employed by the store, which opened for business on July 24 in the former Round Up Feed and Ranch Supply storefront.
The grand opening, according to VanEaton, will feature a “hog roast” dinner and drinks, as well as door prizes and a branding.
“We want people to bring their branding irons down and have dinner,” Crinklaw said. “They will be able to put their mark on the front counter.”
VanEaton said that she came up with the idea of branding the front counter to give local ranchers an attachment to the new store.
“We want to let them know that we appreciate them welcoming us to the community,” VanEaton said. “Come on down for dinner, a few drinks, door prizes and just to visit and get to know people.”
Both VanEaton and Crinklaw said that the store is here to meet the feed and supply needs of the community, whatever those might be.
“We are here to serve the needs of the community,” Crinklaw said. “If anyone has questions, concerns or needs, we encourage them to stop in or give us a call at 746-3111.”
Ranchers Feed and Supply is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The store will also be opening on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon beginning this fall, VanEaton said.
