Prayer falls victim to political correctness
Dear Editor,
Another American tradition bites the dust. The city and county fathers have eliminated prayer at their meetings.
Prayer at civic meetings in this country began on the Mayflower before they even set foot on land and it has been a tradition to invoke the blessings of God at civic meetings ever since.
But now our fearless leaders are afraid that some atheist/communist nitwit might be offended and sue, never mind the fact that the WAM people say it is legal, and that they perceive no threats of such a lawsuit anywhere in Wyoming.
What? Separation of Church and State? Don’t make me laugh! Any educated person knows that the “separation of church and state” concept was written by Mr. Tom Jefferson in a letter to the Danbury Baptist Association, and has nothing whatever to do with any constitutional constraints. In that letter he also “reciprocates their kind prayers,” meaning that they pray for him, he prays for them.
This pathetic attempt by the council and the commission to be politically correct is just another symptom of a sick and possibly terminally ill nation.
Gentlemen and Ladies, you look foolish in the eyes of the people of this county. I suggest you read Psalms 14. You may see a description of yourselves.
