Within the next 30 days the Sixth Judicial District (Campbell, Crook and Weston counties) will have its second new district court judge within the past six months, according to a Jan. 4 press release from the Judicial Nominating Commission. The new judge will replace District Court Judge Thomas W. Rumpke, whose resignation was announced on Nov. 16 and will be effective on March 2.
Gov. Mark Gordon will choose the next judge from a list of names of three individuals. The commission, which is chaired by Wyoming Supreme Court Justice Kate M. Fox, selected the three nominees.
The nominees selected by the commission are Matthew F.G. Castano, Paul S. Phillips and Ronald W. Wirthwein Jr. Gordon has 30 days to appoint one of the nominees to fill the position.
In November, Gordon appointed James Michael Causey to fill the vacant position left by the retirement of Judge John R. Perry, whose resignation was effective Jan. 3.
