Police officer placed on administrative leave after GPD learns he's being investigated for felonies
GILLETTE (WNE) — The Gillette Police Department placed one of its officers on administrative leave after finding out he was being investigated for felony crimes in Utah while he was a police officer there.
The Utah Department of Public Safety through the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation notified the GPD Monday of an investigation into Christopher Goree, according to a press release from the police department.
Goree was arrested on a warrant and taken to the Campbell County Detention Center.
Goree has been employed by Gillette Police Department as a police officer since September and was still in his training period. The Utah investigation of him began in August.
The GPD has placed Goree on administrative leave pending termination proceedings.
Goree is being charged with three counts of third-degree custodial sexual relations (having sexual relations with someone in custody) and third-degree witness tampering – all felonies – as well as a misdemeanor count of knowingly accessing and disseminating confidential records.
