Pleased about transparency

Included in this week’s News Letter Journal is a copy of the 2019 Weston County School District No. 1 Annual Report, which, as some of you may know is being put out a little later than normal this year. The reasoning for this falls in the school district and Superintendent Brad LaCroix wanting to make sure that this report included the WYTOPP scores for the district that were not released until this fall.
The staff here at the News Letter Journal wants to thank the district for being so transparent with statistics and information surrounding the school and activities performances for last year, and the community should too.
Not only do district employees help to gather the information for the paper, but the district also pays to put the publication out for interested parties to read.
Transparency within our government and school districts is fundamental in the public maintaining some sort of oversight on how their tax dollars are being spent, and we think the annual report is a great example of that transparency.
So please, take a moment, grab a cup of java or some hot chocolate, stay in from the cold and review the report provided by the dedicated staff at Weston County School District No. 1. If after reading the report, you have any questions, concerns or comments contact Superintendent Brad LaCroix at 746-4451.
