Peter Voge Vorpahl, age 74, passed away on Aug. 15, 2019, in Newcastle, Wyo.
Peter was born in Camp Stoneman, Calif., to Adolph and Dorothy Vorpahl. The family relocated to Yoder, Wyo., where he grew up on the family farm.
Peter followed his passion for animals by attending the University of Wyoming and the University of Colorado to obtain his degree of Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. After college, Peter married Fonda Fulton and they moved to Montrose, Colo., where he began practicing veterinary medicine.
In 1973 they moved to Newcastle where they opened Salt Creek Veterinary Clinic, where he practiced for more than 40 years.
As a veterinarian he devoted himself to caring for all animals, whether they were pets, livestock and even wildlife. Peter and Fonda also devoted their lives to helping people in need. Peter was active in both his church and the community making a positive impact on many lives.
Peter lived a full life as a son, brother, husband and father. He is preceded in death by his wife, Fonda Vorpahl; his parents, Adolph and Dorothy Vorpahl; and his brother, Benjamin Vorpahl.
Peter is survived by his sons, Konrad (Jaime) of Rapid City, S.D., and Dirck (Rachelle) of The Woodlands, Texas; granddaughter, Haley; and his brother-in-law, Tom (Jan) Fulton of Nixa, Mo.
His family said, “Peter and Fonda promised one another that whoever passed away first needed to save a seat for the other in heaven. Let us celebrate that they are together again.”
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Weston County Senior Services center in Newcastle.
