Dear Editor
As the year 2019 closed and 2020 opened we were honored to be named Persons of the Year for 2019.  For this honor we feel greatly blessed and deeply humbled.  
We do not know all of the persons who were nominated but we believe each of them deserve the honor of their nomination.  We believe the esteem this recognition gives to each of us is confirmation that the manner in which we live our daily lives matters.  We have read the stories of all the nominees and believe ourselves no more deserving than any of the others. We believe we share with the other nominees this position of high regard in our community (including all of the unnamed selfless members of
our community) . 
We congratulate all those nominated.  Each of you follow a noble calling and you deserve recognition.   In this time of divisiveness and anger, it is wonderful for our newspaper to highlight those who are conducting their lives according to the Golden Rule.  We need these stories to inspire us, to remind us to be grateful for our neighbors and our little town.
Thank you to the News Letter Journal and thank you to all who give so generously of their time and talent and resources.
