Funeral services for Paul David Switzer, 34, were held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 19, at the Douglas High School Auditorium, 1701 Hamilton Street, Douglas, Wyoming, with Pastor Sara Phillippi of The Gathering officiating. Inurnment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery.  

Paul died on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025, near Lander, Wyoming, due to injuries received in a motor vehicle accident.

He was born Saturday, June 8, 1991, in Gillette, Wyoming, the youngest of three sons of Dennis Lee and Vickie Anne (McDougall) Switzer.

Paul lived his early life in Gillette, moving to Douglas with his family in 1995, when he was 3 years old.

Paul attended Douglas schools, taking part in Destination Imagination, Skills USA, and was active in Converse County 4-H, doing shooting sports and showing pigs. He was also an active cadet on the Douglas Volunteer Fire Department.

Paul graduated from Douglas High School in 2009 and attended WyoTech’s motorcycle and marine school in Daytona Beach, Florida.

While his work career began at age 8 delivering the Casper Star-Tribune, Paul started his adult work life as a mechanic for Dixon Brothers Trucking in Newcastle, Wyoming, then in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He worked on a ranch west of Laramie for a couple of years, and worked in maintenance at the Albany County Fairgrounds.

Paul got his education degree from the University of Wyoming, and taught shop and agriculture at Hanna and Encampment, Wyoming. He was also the FFA advisor at Hanna and Encampment High Schools.

Paul was employed at The Malt, and at Hen & Harvest Eatery in Saratoga, Wyoming.

He recently began a new job that he was very excited about, at the Old Baldy Club in Saratoga.

Paul was an outstanding mechanic, and always had an old motorcycle, car or truck project.

Paul was a passionate outdoorsman. He loved living in the Upper North Platte River Valley, loved to hunt, fish and hike, snowboarding, river rafting, and he loved sharing the outdoors with his friends.

Paul is survived by his parents, Vickie and Dennis Switzer of Douglas; brothers, Jeffery (Jennifer) Switzer and their daughter, Elizabeth Rose Switzer, of Tucson, Arizona, and Douglas Switzer (Irene Hong) of Springfield, Oregon; maternal grandmother, Paula McDougall of Newcastle; paternal grandmother, Frances Switzer of Riverton, Wyoming; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Wayne McDougall, on Dec. 25, 2023, and paternal grandfather, Jimmie Switzer, on May 30, 2021.

Serving as urnbearers were Jeffery Switzer and Douglas Switzer.

Serving as honorary urnbearers were Tyler Roberts, Brandon Roberts, and Reese Owens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Paul D. Switzer Memorial Fund in care of the Converse County Bank, P.O. Box 689, Douglas, WY 82633 would be appreciated by the family.               

The Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
