Once a Dogie

To the Editor:

The saying here goes, “Once a Dogie, Always a Dogie.” Homecoming is the perfect time for this adage!

Oct. 14 through the 19th, the students of Newcastle High School will be busy with different activities, sports, games, and positive energy throughout our community.

However, I have witnessed on Facebook some unhappy people upset with the youth of our town and their treatment of places in our community. It’s not misplaced, but I want to invite the community to pay attention to the events the NHS Student Council has planned, and attend when you can.

Another thing I want to point out is the difference in our schedule for Homecoming. The parade is Thursday instead of Friday, and the football game is Saturday instead of Friday. Our staff and students have been working to make this experience as seamless as possible so the traditions can persist.

We live in a small town, and I hope we can all work together to ensure we can still have these traditions. Referees, coaches, bus drivers, etc. are needed.

All this to say, pay attention to the newspaper for updates on homecoming, the kids are alright, and show up when you can to enjoy all the fun scheduled!
