The old
Highway 85

Dear Editor,
Way back when Highway 85 was built it ran up the hill by where the landfill is and turned east down the railroad track and you drove across the track. There was no sign to stop and look, there the road just ran along the railroad. Of course, the trains weren’t very long then — engine, 20 to 30 coal cars and a caboose.
It was wonderful in the late evening when the passenger trains went by and were all lit up.
