Kimberly Scharf, a registered nurse at Regional Health Medical Clinic in Newcastle, is receiving statewide recognition for her work as the community vaccine coordinator for the clinic and community, according to a May 1 release from Regional Health News.
Scharf was nominated by nurse practitioner Ashely Tupper, who noted that in 2018 Scharf drafted and designed a notification feature within Epic, Regional Health’s electronic records system, that is now used throughout the regional health network to remind patients and providers of when vaccinations are needed.
“Scharf also created a program for monthly vaccine audits, and spearheaded numerous flu shot, Tdap, HPV and meningitis clinics,” the release states. “She also worked with the state of Wyoming to decrease the paperwork for vaccination.”
“Kimberly has made great strides implementing new programs and policies for decreasing missed opportunities and increasing provider, nursing and community immunization awareness,” Tupper said.
Scharf, along with Tupper, will attend the Wyoming Immunization Conference in Casper on May 21-22.
