Nothing You Do Surprises God
God is never shocked or caught off guard by anything a person thinks, says, or does. His perfect knowledge brings clarity, honesty, and confidence.
People carry a strange idea about God. They act like He reacts the way people do, as if He’s shocked when someone slips or caught off guard when a person says or thinks something wrong. But Psalm 139:4 says, “Even before there is a word on my tongue, behold, Lord, You know it all.” God has never once been surprised.
He sees the whole life of a person at the same time. He knows where the cracks are and what will test them long before the moment arrives. Nothing appears suddenly to Him. Nothing sneaks up on Him or comes out of nowhere. He knows the weakness before it shows itself. He knows the thought before it forms.
And He knows why people stumble. Psalm 103:14 says, “For He Himself knows our form. He is mindful that we are nothing but dust.” God knows exactly what people are made of. He knows how quickly the mind can wander and how easily the heart can be pulled off course. His patience is strong because His understanding is perfect.
God does not learn as He goes. He never adjusts His plan because something surprised Him. The future is as clear to Him as the past. That is why Isaiah 46:10 says, “Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things which have not been done, saying, ‘My plan will be established, and I will accomplish all My good pleasure.’” He speaks of things not yet done as if they are already completed.
A person may shock themselves. They may shock everyone around them. But they never shock God. Nothing you do surprises Him today. Nothing will surprise Him tomorrow. This truth should not make anyone careless. It should make them honest. There is no reason to hide from a God who already sees everything and still calls people to Himself. He still forgives. He still restores. He still leads with full knowledge of every weakness and every step.
Nothing you do surprises God. And that is why His grace is stronger than anything a person carries.
