Newcastle's Monroe-Bland Post 3 will be hosting this year's Wyoming American Legion convention. The convention will include meetings, state election of officers, discussion of any constitutional or bylaw changes, guest speakers and an evening banquet. The local post will also be hosting several legislators.

Fri. June 20, 1-1:30 p.m., U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman, Weston County Event Center

Fri. June 20, Banquet features speaker Reid Rasner. Newcastle Mayor Tyrel Owens will also attend.

Sat. June 21, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., U.S. Sen. John Barrasso will speak and have lunch with veterans, Weston County Event Center

Sun. June 22, the public is invited to join the American Legion Riders for a three-hour, round-trip patriotic ride to Mount Rushmore.  They will gather between 7 and 8 a.m. at the Gateway Travel Center Pavillion, 5007 U.S. Highway 16, Newcastle. Everyone is invited. If you can't ride a motorcycle, you're welcome to drive a car and join the patriotic ride.
