SCC football vs. South Hamilton - Sept. 30, 2022
The South Central Calhoun football team encountered a case of Murphy's Law - anything that can go wrong, will go wrong - in a Class 1A-District 2 matchup against South Hamilton, held on Sept. 30 at Taylor Field in Jewell.
SCC couldn't get much going, due to turnovers and injuries, and fell to 3-3 overall with a 2-1 district record. The Hawks, who took the victory on their respective Senior Night, improved to 5-1 and 3-0 in district.
The Titans will have a chance to play for a home playoff game next Friday, hosting Woodward-Granger for a crucial Class 1A-District 2 clash at Titan Stadium in Lake City. The Hawks (3-3, 1-2 in district) shut out Belmond-Klemme with a 51-0 score this past Friday at Hawk Stadium in Woodward.
Leading the way for SCC was junior wideout Keegan Soard, who caught five passes for 80 yards. Senior Dominik Kistler paced the Titans on the ground with 33 yards on seven carries, followed by junior Brock Nattress' 28 yards and a touchdown on 11 attempts.
Junior quarterback Gavin Batta went 12-of-20 for 149 yards, but tossed two interceptions in the loss.
