Lesli Wineteer has a passion for natural remedies and essential oils, she said, and that is just one reason that she decided to make a business of selling her homemade remedies and offering massages.
“I wanted a career in something that I loved,” she said.
Wineteer, who grew up in Newcastle, has been back home for five years. For three years, she has been making lip gloss, lotions and more out of essential oils and other natural ingredients. What started out as “Christmas gifts” quickly blossomed into more when she began to sell her products a year ago on a retail shelf in Toe-Tally Groom ‘n Tanz salon.
That, in turn, blossomed into offering aroma therapy massages at the salon as well – starting Aug. 1 of this year. During the massages, essential oils are used in the massage and diffused throughout. People may also buy essential oil blends that are used in the messages.
“I wanted to use the essential oils in as many ways as possible,” Wineteer said.
Katrina Malone, owner of the salon, has known Wineteer since they were in sixth grade together. She said that she has always wanted to bring a massage therapist into the salon, so when Wineteer approached her about the idea, Malone was all in.
“She’s been a wonderful fit for our team,” Malone said, noting that Wineteer is extremely “hard working” and is a natural at making people feel comfortable about getting a massage.
Wineteer’s massages offer many benefits, Malone said, including reducing tension, alleviating soreness and more. Malone also said that Wineteer will be an informational source for her clients — educating them on what she offers. Malone has experienced Wineteer’s massages, which help relieve her chronically sore neck, Malone said. She has experienced the Swedish massage, aroma therapy massage and hot stone massage.
“They are amazing,” she said.
Malone said she has also seen increased business at the salon and hopes Wineteer continues to grow her business.
Wineteer has seen the advantage that her products offer, she said. Her mission is to help people and bring healing, calm and relaxation to their bodies through the use of natural ingredients, remedies and massages. Her lip gloss contains beeswax from right here in Weston County, and it can help with allergies, according to Wineteer. Her creams and lotions can also alleviate “sleep anxiety” and pain or discomfort.
“I just want people to know that there are natural remedies,” Wineteer said. “Everybody needs a massage.”
Wineteer’s business venture boasts the name Gypsy Lynn Body and Soul, and her phone number is 307-629-1417.
