NEELA BEARDSLEY

Neela Beardsley, of Newcastle, Wyoming, passed away on Aug. 20, 2025, in Newcastle at the age of 59.

Neela was born Dec. 2, 1965, to Neil and Darlene Beardsley. She attended school in Newcastle, graduating in 1984. She attended college in Torrington for one year then returned to Newcastle. She held a few jobs but managing a bookstore and then caring for dogs were her favorites. She devoted this last 20-plus years as shelter manager for the Weston County Humane Society. In conjunction with the Honor Camp, she established a program working with inmates to train dogs which is still successful.

Neela is survived by her sisters, Chris Beardsley, Marge Sturgis, Sandy (Dave) of Upton, and Joyce (Dale) Niswender; her nephews, Travis (Margie) Upton and their family, and Dustin (Brenda) Upton and their families; nieces, Janet Sturgis, Ginger (Ron) Anno and their family; and her extended family which includes many cousins and friends she held dear.

A casual gathering of family and friends was held Aug. 28 at Meridian Mortuary.
