NAOMI ‘PEGGY’ YVONNE BERDAHL

Naomi “Peggy” Yvonne Berdahl passed away at the Weston County Health Services Manor on Oct. 22, 2024, at the age of 97. Peggy was born Dec. 14, 1926, in Benkelman, NE to Orval and Myrtle Kline. Her family moved to Newcastle in 1933.  She graduated from Newcastle High School in 1946.  After graduation, she attended beauty college.  She married Homer Berdahl on Aug. 14, 1947. They were married 69 years, up to Homer’s passing in 2016. They had six children — three girls and three boys. They moved to California in 1954.  Peggy was busy raising six children, got her California beauty license and opened her own beauty shop in Fillmore, CA, called Peggy’s.  In 1985, after retiring, they returned to Newcastle to be closer to their families. Peggy had many hobbies, and when she moved into the Manor, she loved the staff and all the fun activities.  Her favorite was trips to Deadwood. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Homer Berdahl; son, Larry Berdahl; brothers, Jack & Junior Kline; sisters, Joyce Lincoln & Jeanette Berdahl; daughter-in law, Donna Berdahl; son-in law, Darreld Kerlin; and great grandson, Ethan Matthews. She is survived by sister, Shirley Ann Wiles; three daughters, Julia Kerlin, Myra Gunik (Terry) and Beverly Steel (Dwayne); two sons, Micheal Berdahl and Duane Berdahl (Susan); 13 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren. She was loved by all and will be missed by all.  Services will be at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Newcastle, Sunday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m.
